Tiles for pool walkways
Tiles for pool walkways
When tiling a pool, special attention is paid to dangerous areas such as steps for descending into the water and walkways around the pool, which are constantly exposed to water. It is recommended for these areas to choose tiles with a textured or rough anti-slip surface. Anti-slip tiles for the pool, laid on the floor surface, ensure comfortable and safe barefoot walking on a wet surface. This is an important requirement, cause if the surface of the tiles around the pool is too smooth, there is a risk of serious injury due to an accidental fall. Anti-slip tiles for the pool have a fine-grained coating that prevents slipping even when water gets on the surface.
Tile slip ratings indicate the angle at which the tile prevents slipping:
R9 - angle of inclination less than 10 ° - slight anti-slip.
R10 - angle of inclination from 10 ° to 19 ° - normal anti-slip.
R11 - angle of inclination from 20° to 27° — average anti-slip.
R12 - angle of inclination from 28° to 35° — high anti-slip.
R13 - more than 35° angle - maximum anti-slip.
Tiles that are supposed to be walked on barefoot are divided into three more classes:
A — non-slip at a slope of 12–18°. Suitable for walkways where the humidity level is minimal, ex. changing rooms or lining of the bottom of the pool if its depth is more than 80 cm.
B — non-slip at a slope of 18–24°. Suitable for pool walkways around the perimeter of the pool in the area where people walk barefoot, for the stairs steps whose width does not exceed 1 meter and which are equipped with handrails on both sides, for lining of children's pools or a pool less than 80 cm deep.
C — non-slip at a slope of more than 24°. Designed for sloping areas and steps for the pool.
